Morgan's Late 10th Birthday Party
Morgan's birthday is in April, but since we were in the middle of putting the pool in, we decided to wait and have a pool party when the pool got done. Well, it took longer than we thought, so we didn't have it until July 3rd, which proved to not be that great of a day for most of her friends and not many were able to come, but those that did had a great time. We did a 4th of July theme, and it was the first "party" we had with the pool. She got a cool ginormous "toypedo" to play with in the pool, a new Webkinz, purse, and rubix cube. We found out that the waterfall had a pretty bad leak that would make a big mud puddle, then spill over into the pool, but because it was a weekend, we couldn't get it fixed. So Nathan used some bathroom caulking for a temporary fix to get us through the weekend. It actually worked quite well.
So Morgan is 10, going into 5th grade, and whether she likes it or not, is turning into a great babysitter and help for me! We are getting her good and trained and I am quite sure she will be highly sought after when she turns 12. She still loves to read and continues to add a link to her reading chain for every book she finishes. It's quite the wall decoration. :( She is getting good at preparing food as well, which comes in very handy! She loves school and does extremely well, her best subject being reading and writing. Once a month, Nathan and I have to go to a meeting Sunday before church, and getting a babysitter at 7:30 on a Sunday morning just seemed silly, so we leave Morgan in charge to get everyone breakfast and make sure they get dressed and ready to go by the time we get back at 8:30, with instructions to call us with any trouble whatsoever. Since we leave 2 minutes from the church, we don't feel it is too much. She does a fantastic job, better than we can do ourselves sometimes. Each time, we've come home to everyone ready, shoes on, hair and teeth brushed, sitting on the couch watching a church video. Way to go Morgan!!
