We walked dozens of streets passing home after home with their balconies, cast iron railings, and beautiful gardens in the "Garden District" of New Orleans-a few miles from the french quarter. Most of them are 100-150 years old. It's hard to believe that people actually live in these homes-they're not just for a movie. For the most part, they were very well kept up. We saw some people moving furniture into a home and so we asked if we could look around. It turned out to be the Opera Guild's house and they had been fixing it up for the last 3 years from the hurricane. No water damage in that area, but the winds did quite a number on many of the homes. The house on the bottom right was Anne Rice's house until recently (she wrote Interview with a Vampire). I couldn't help but say while walking down the street, "Beautiful! Gorgeous! Wish you were here!" to you all. :)
