Abby modeling her new princess dress
We had a super fun time staying in Provo with the Crum side of the family. There was plenty of snow, so we got good use of the snow clothes we hauled up there. They built enormous snow forts, snowmen, made sledding paths in the yard, and we went sledding at the park up above the temple and had a blast. The cousins enjoyed spending time together and Amy and Brian were excellent hosts as more and more people kept arriving for Christmas. Their oldest, Ben, is Zach's age and they are the best of buddies, I expect they'll be good friends for a long time. Abby is right in the middle of Lydia and Louisa, and she waffles back and forth between who she plays with. Louisa is almost 3, and Carter almost 2, but they actually played pretty cute together.
We had a really fun Christmas Eve program where each kid performed something, and then we all got to play the chimes and got pretty good and playing the carols. The kids were sufficiently surprised and happy with their Christmas loot and Christmas day was just as fun and lazy as ever. Morgan got an ipod which she didnt' take out of her ear the entire day, or since really. Zach got a microscope thing you plug into the TV and examine all sorts of things with, and Abby's favorite gift of the day was her Hello Kitty Electric toothbrush. So funny. We played some games, Grandma Crum cooked a wonderful meal for us to enjoy that evening, then we put together 30 or so Hygeine Kits for the Humanitarian Center for our family service project. We decided to do that instead of exchanging gifts this year. It didn't turn out "as simple" as we expected it to, but the kids loved doing it and it made us feel good to do something for somebody else on Christmas.
We figured it had been a while since the whole family was together, and we didn't know when that would happen again, so we rounded everyone up on the 26th and took pictures before we headed up to Ogden for my sister's wedding...posts on that soon to follow. I'm getting caught up here a little at a time.
